Rev. Robert Jones came to the Mid-Ohio Valley Oct. 4 – 6 and did presentations at local schools and performed at the Lafayette Hotel’s Gun Room for a Cobbler’s Coffeehouse Series open to the public.  Rev. Jones makes his home in Detroit, Michigan but he performs throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. An award-winning multi-instrumentalist, he is accomplished on guitar, harmonica, mandolin, banjo, fiddle and ukulele. He has recorded six albums of original and traditional songs.  He came here due to the efforts and funding of the local BJFM (Blues, Jazz, and Folk Music) Society.

Rev. Jones is an inspirational storyteller and musician celebrating the history, humor and power of American Roots music. His deep love for traditional African American and American traditional music is shared in live performances and presentations that interweave timeless stories with original and traditional songs.

He is the Blues in the Schools educator this year, presenting at six different secondary schools on both sides of the river in the Mid-Ohio Valley from Wednesday through Friday, October 4 – 6. Rev. Jones will be worked with whole groups at the schools and when possible also had Q&A sessions with the schools’ band and choir students.  He  shared his knowledge of blues and other American roots music in historical, interactive, and engaging presentations.  These programs are free of charge to the schools, funded primarily by the BJFM Society and generous donations from some of the schools’ Partners In Education.

The Cobbler’s Coffeehouse performance took place in the Gun Room Restaurant at the Hotel Lafayette.  from 8 – 9:30 pm on Oct. 6. Once again thank you to Mother Earth Foods for helping to fund this Cobbler’s Coffeehouse series.
